You will see that Boychild actually DID graduate high school.

We're giving him the summer. I'd already paid for his Boy Scout camp, and told him if he wanted to go next year he would have to pay for it himself. Then after camp, he needs to get a job. It doesn't seem like he's going back to school in the fall, which is fine. He has to pay for it himself so he'll need to save up some if he does plan on going at some point anyway.

I finished painting the spare room. (Otherwise known as "Mory's old room") It's nice and bright in there now. I put the vacuum, ironing board, and iron in the closet, along with some of my clothes. Tuesday I was in there ironing shirts. Was less oppressive than doing it down in the basement. I also have my spinning wheel in there and have clamped my drum carder to the wooden table that used to have the computer on it. (That is also now in the closet) At some point, I think we're going to put a desk in there.

So this morning after the gym, I went outside with my tea and knitting and the pets. Gotta enjoy the outdoors before it gets blistering hot again. I'm working up a swatch for a capelet I want to knit out of the burgundy wool I got on Valentine's Day. Sort of felt like I should be doing stuff. Ya know. PRODUCTIVE stuff. So after it got too warm to sit out in the sun, I went in the front yard and mangled pruned the tree. There's a bit near the sidewalk that still needs trimming, but I needed the branch lopper instead of the pruning shears for that, went inside for lunch, and haven't gotten back to it.

I also glugged some cement cleaner on the driveway where my car leaks oil and sprayed the weeds in the driveway cracks with herbicide.

The graduation announcements that are WAY late finally got mailed today along with the UBERlate Mother's Day cards. I got Simpsons stamps for the announcements. I only had about twelve people to send 'em to anyway. I hope the addresses for the three old friends I lost touch with lately were correct. The rest went to relatives. Some from my father's side of the family who in my head I have saying "Who the hell is this?" when they get 'em. Hopefully I look enough like my father that when they see the pictures of me and the kid from the graduation that I included they'll figure it out.

One good thing I found out today is that Boychild will be covered under our insurance until he's 21. He turns 18 in a couple weeks (ACK!) and I was concerned about when his coverage ended.

Oh well, I'm wandering now. Went to find a picture of the capelet I wanna make and ended up surfing around. Good sign that all that was important has already been included in this post. Better go make sure the dog's okay outside too. The other day she got ahold of a bird and chewed it up. (EW!)

Yesterday Boychild found out he passed the two tests he needed to pass in order to graduate. So now I guess I need to send out these announcements I'd been dragging my heels on when we weren't sure what was happening.

Unfortunately, he also found out when he tried to turn in his history book that it was not the one the teacher had written down that was checked out to him EVEN THOUGH it was the one he had the entire semester. So this morning I had to write out a check for $58 for a book he probably never even had! I'm having him ask if I get a refund when the book supposedly given to him (but I bet another student has) turns up. Had we not paid for the book today, they wouldn't give him his cap and gown.

Mother's Day was nice. Slept in. Boychild made me a bagelwich and tea, which I ate in bed while watching tv. Then we went and saw the new Trek movie in IMAX. (OH YEAH!!! Made of WIN!!!) After that, we hit Sam's Club for groceries, brought them home, then went to Famous Dave's for dinner. I'd wanted to go to the gardening place some time that day but decided there wasn't time. Then we watched some weird suspense movie on AMC.

Yesterday my dog officially became a bunny killer. I was trimming back some dead vines on my honeysuckle. I'd seen a baby bunny take off into the neighbor's yard. Didn't think any more of it. Later, the dog comes over and I see it take off across our yard with a bunny in its mouth. I yell "DROP! DROP!!!!" which the dog ignores, then run after the dog to get it before she mutliates it. I get the bunny away and the poor thing is still barely alive, with a big tooth hole in its skull. *ew* Then I see the dog run past with ANOTHER bunny. That one was dead when I got it away from her. So I hold the one live bunny and try to make its last minutes here less stressful. And I flash on Watership Down, hoping that Al-Arhairah (or however it's spelled) comes to take them to where the clover is plentiful and dogs don't chase them.

My walking buddy called off the gym this morning because her kid is sick. I hope he gets better and doesn't miss HIS graduation on Saturday. So instead, after dropping Boychild off at school, I went to the local nursery. I got another variety of tomato (Patio, it's a cherry tomato that is good for growing in pots) and a pumpkin seedling that is supposed to be good for pies. So then I went to the other nursery in the next town over. There I got a Beefmaster and a Jet Star seedling. That brings my tomato plants up to six. Gonna get one of those upside-down hangy things to put the cherry tomato plant in. I want to get some red bell pepper plants to put in pots next to my jalapenos, but will probably get those at Wal-Mart. Unfortunatly, both places' selection of Lantanas was severely lacking.

I asked one of the nursery workers about my Lime Rickey Heuchera. It didn't do so well last year in where I've got it planted. But it's come back this year with some little leaves. I wanted to know about transplanting it to someplace that maybe gets a little more sun. Was told that other than giving it some sort of transplant mixture to prevent shock, moving it should be fine. Yay! That was the plant Boychild gave me for Mother's Day two years ago.

It's really odd that the Heuchera that is in front of that one, one of the more common varieties, is going gangbusters, but the Lime Rickey one being maybe four inches back in the same bed is puny. Oh well. I'm chalking it up to less sun, warmth, whatever.

So after I left the nursery, I went to Target to pick up some Lean Cuisines that were on sale ubercheap. They make GREAT lunches. Especially when on sale for under $2 each. I also picked up a box of carrot cake mix that I'd never seen before but was already on the clearance end cap. And some fresh strawberries since it's getting close to the end of the season.

Boychild's been bugging me about the new Pokemon game for the DS. So I had a $10 certificate at Best Buy, went over there, and picked it up as a "GJ on graduating" surprise. Browsed through Borders, but all the knitting magazines sucked. Then I went to the nearby Old Navy.

Now, lately, Old Navy has sucked for clothes as far as what would look good on me. I used to be able to get tank tops or t-shirts at least. But ever since they went to the uberthin cotton "Layering" crap, it clings too much and is way too sheer. But I went in anyway just to browse around because ya never know.

So I go over and look at the clearance stuff and see some pants in my size marked down to $1.97. I boggled, but then looked at them really honestly and decided that no matter how cheap they were, I'd look awful in pale grey corduroy. So I head around the other side of the fixture to see what was there. The first thing that caught my eye was the hot pink cotton raincoat. In XXL! (I'm not huge, but Old Navy sizes stuff small) So I tried it on. It was a little big but it felt good, but I was concerned about the color. There was also a black one. And a bright yellow one. So I gather the three up and go over to the dressing rooms where there is a full sized mirror.

Pink one. It looks okay. In my head there is a voice saying "Don't be afraid of color!" Then the yellow. Voice says "You look like a duck... and the fabric is slightly sheer!" Finally the black. "Mmm... classic and somewhat slimming. But it's black. How boring." Put the pink one back on. Meh. LOVE the color, but as I said before, it only looked okay. Black one back on... it's timeless. I'm Audrey Hepburn in it. The best part... it was only FOUR DOLLARS!!! And it's the rainy season here now too! Score!

So now I'm back home thinking of all the things I should be doing instead of sitting on the internet. I will probably grab some lunch first. Then address graduation announcements. And maybe finish painting the two walls left in the spare room. At least, that's the plan. Whether it plays out that way is to be seen. I may just end up on Warcraft listening to podcasts. Ya never know.

My garage sale on Saturday netted me the $75 I needed to cover the rest of the install cost on the new dishwasher I'd been saving for. So yesterday I hotfooted it down to Lowe's where my shiny black beauty was to be found. When I got there, much to my pleasure, there was a 10% off Energy Star appliances sale going! Having had two major appliances (the stove and the TV) have need of costly repairs which were covered by extended warranties that we'd purchased, I took the lowered cost of the dishwasher as an opportunity to get an extra two years parts and service contract I would otherwise not had the cash for.

OH! And they were having a rebate on the cost of installation! So I have a form to send in to get that money back too! It will go straight back into my stash to be saved for the next thing I think is necessary. Haven't decided yet. New bathtub? Trip to California? One would last longer, but the other... my mother's not coming to Boychild's graduation and nobody's getting any younger... *sigh*

So after the garage sale was over (and I realized I'd gotten rather sunburned) I loaded everything that didn't sell and would fit into the back of the truck where it was dropped off at Goodwill. The sewing table and two boxes are still in the garage because there was no room, but that area does look MUCH LESS trash filled now.

Filling up the truck. Yeah. I had two able bodied young men, my son and his friend from down the block, sitting there WATCHING ME pick up the heavy boxes and put them on the truck. After a bit, I thought I'd shame them by saying "Yeah, you two guys just sit there watching ME pick up the heavy boxes and put them on the truck. What a couple of pussies!" They laughed. And still didn't help me. Feh!

What other sale anecdotes were there to tell? One fellow came and bought a bunch of yarn, saying he was going to take it to her mother who has dementia. That crocheting keeps her occupied. Later on, he came back and got more yarn saying that she'd been so thrilled when he brought what he'd bought to her. What a nice son. I hope when I'm old and not all there, my kids bring ME yarn!

One guy and his son bought Boychild's old bike. I put $20 on it, but he talked me down to $10. I was happy for his kid since it's still a great bike but just needs a tube in one tire. Then his wife came by with the other kids and their SUV and he started being a dick to one of the other kids. Made me wish I made him pay more then.

One girl who looked fresh out of college bought a bunch of kid's books for her 3rd grade classroom she was setting up.

A neighbor girl came down and bought a bag of lace and misc. crafty stuff. I had a sewing thing someone'd given me with little scissors, pincushion, etc. sitting on the table so I put it in the bag too. She was going to give me money for it, but I wouldn't take it.

One Mexican family came over and bought a few things. The little one had been looking at a Curious George book. When the mom went to leave and told him to put it down, I said "That's okay. He can keep it." The kid looked really happy.

Dang. I spend too much time in bad_service or customers_suck because when I reread that last paragraph I was wondering if "Mexican" needed to be there. What kind of freakin' PC world are we in when I have to start wondering about using DESCRIPTORS and whether someone'll take offense.

Today I went to Walmart to pick up Mother's Day cards and gift cards to put in there, but the Visa gift cards were such a hassle, having to be rung up separately, paid for in a certain way, etc... and I was in the express line, so I didn't get those yet. I did get a couple tomato seedlings and a rose bush. Then I went to Baker's thinking they had the preset amount gift cards but they wanted a $5 fee. Um... no. I can go back to Walmart with cash and only have to pay a $3 fee. Then I picked up a pack of jalapeno seedlings over at ShopKO. So I'm partially ready for a veg garden.

My lilacs are in full bloom. They smell wonderful. Remind me of my grandmother's house. Too bad they're only around for such a short time.

Boychild has decided that it is more important to graduate than to make Eagle in Scouts. Smart kid. I told him that it would have been nice for him to make Eagle, but that he just got into the Order of the Arrow and that he was Mic-O-Say down at camp and that was pretty cool as far as Scouting goes. I think his Scout leaders will be a little disappointed since they push the boys to go for Eagle and it's only Boychild's own fault he didn't make it because he's had YEARS to do this. But if it had been important to HIM, he would have made more of an effort.

Mmm. These special limited edition pink grapefruit tictacs are tasty.

So today I need to do laundry, pull out stuff from the fridge that is past its prime, maybe get some potting soil and herb seeds into some pots, and whatever else pops into my head. (like playing WoW or knitting or watching shows I have recorded)

But right now... I'm taking my tea outside where it's all grey and spring-like!

Subject:Thursday. It IS Thursday, right?

Some days I forget. Weekdays are pretty much all the same. Except for Fridays when Zen works half days and we go out to lunch and shop.

Boychild is still sliding head first into the end of the school year. One month left. It's gonna be a squeaker at home plate as to whether he's gonna graduate or not. He's also doing the same "down to the wire" thing with his Eagle project for Scouts, which has to be completed and his board held before his 18th birthday in June.

Mory's still got crap in the room that she needs to get out. I found the gallon of paint we'd bought for that room FIVE YEARS ago. I'm hoping to get it painted some time soon. Want it to look nice in case my mom does end up coming out for the graduation. I also need to run the rug cleaner in there, but it needs to be warmer so I can have the window open for drying purposes.

Knittingwise, I finished my scarf a week or so back. It still needs the ends darned in and to be blocked, but I'm happy with it. At knit night, I started a pair of Escher Socks in the Handpicks Imagination yarn, colorway Looking Glass. It's pale blues and lavendar and grey. Lovely stuff. Merino wool and alpaca and nylon. Should wear nicely. Hopefully they'll fit me. The pattern's based on a 2x2 rib, so it's plenty stretchy. My only complaint is that my double pointed needles are a little too long and get in the way when I'm knitting. I need to dig through and find the set of shorter sock needles I have and see if they're comfortable to knit with. (Current ones are wood, shorter ones are plastic... tips may not be pointy enough or any of the other flaws that make needles annoying to knit with)

I've been sorting through my garage in preparation for the neighborhood garage sale the first weekend of next month. I've culled two rubbermaid bins of yarn from my stash. Mostly 20 year old acrylic stuff and other odd balls of yarns in colors I really don't care for. The other day I added two boxes of kids' books to the pile. There's a bunch of counted cross stitch books, cooking magazines, etc for the sale too. I want to go through my FOURTEEN BINS full of fabric and reduce that stash too. (I've already thrown the box full of fake fur in the sale area in teh garage)

I also need to go through the Christmas stuff. I mean, who NEEDS three bins...or are there four (?), of Christmas decorations?

Hopefully, if this sale does well, I will have the rest of the money I need to go get my new dishwasher. Don't know if I've mentioned it, but I've been saving for one for nearly half a year. We found one we really liked at Lowe's. Thanks a lot Lowe's guy for upselling us on the better, more expensive one. (/sarcasm) But it IS so much better than the other one we'd settled on.

And anything that doesn't go at the garage sale is getting packed into the back of the truck and getting dropped off at Goodwill.

Ooh. Sun came out. For a minute or two, at least.

I've been tracking what I eat for the past three weeks using the Lose It! app on my iPhone. It's a really good app, and currently free. So far, I've lost 5 pounds. Don't know if that's because I started using it right after my monthly got over or because I'm eating less crap. Still eating crap, mind you... just less. (Did you know the McD's Southern chicken sandwich has 400 calories and a small fry 280? XD ) But to lose a pound a week, it says I should be eating 1740 calories. Zen, for the same weight loss goal, gets 2600. WTF??? Just another little "bonus" for being female, I guess.

Oh well. It's noon-thirty. Gotta take this CD back to my walking buddy. She got this book called "I Can Make You Thin" that comes with some sort of relaxation/self hypnosis CD and foisted it onto me. I listened to the CD today. The guy is talking in your ear in a low sexy voice about how good looking you're going to be and how you're going to stop eating when you're full and enjoy every bite of the food. FIRST, at the beginning it set my bullshitometer right off the charts, then it just got creepy. But I did it to be able to tell her that yeah, I listened to it.

I guess since it's been a month, I should post. But nothing much is going on. Boychild still sucking in school. Me still wondering if he's really going to graduate. Or if he's gonna do this Eagle project for Scouts before he ages out.

Recently I saw a sign saying that my neighborhood is going to have garage sales on the first and second of next month. So its lit a fire under me to go through more of my stuff faster than I'd intended. I was really planning on doing a garage sale this spring so this just makes me do it faster. I figure there'll be more traffic during the neighborhood sales and if I only do it one day...

So today I went through a bunch of boxes and I have a stack of cross stitch leaflets and an entire box of acrylic yarns. My inner child is stamping its foot not wanting to let go of stuff, but really. A bunch of this stuff is what I got for free when Knit and Stitch went out of business and a bunch so far is 20 year old acrylic yarn that someone else could be using. My mantra is "Are you REALLY going to use this?"

There are MANY more boxes to go through. *sigh*

It's a grey dreary day. My butt's dragging. Hopefully tea will pick me up. Otherwise, I just may curl up like the cat and dog and take a nap.

Oh well. Guess I'll see what's up with my rogue. She's got 3/4 of a level before she can get her cold weather flying.

It was a rather nice weekend. On Friday, when Zen got home we went to Lil Burro for lunch. When he asked what I wanted to do afterwards, I said "Let's go play vulture at World Market". He didn't get it, so I had to explain that I meant we should go pick the bones of the soon-closing store. So we went and looked around. Their discounts aren't really serious "Going out of business NOW" percentages yet, but some things are up to 30 or 40% off.

And then... )

I don't know if it's PMS or what, but I've been particularly motivated in the past week. It started with cleaning out one kitchen cabinet. Threw out a bunch of outdated stuff. A couple boxes of cake mix had "use by" dates of *05*! It made the cabinet look nicer and stuff easier to get at. The next day I straightened up the lower cabinet where the cereal and spuds and jugs of oil go. Then the other night I pulled out all Mory's boxes of tea from another cabinet so she could take them to the new place. So there was a third cabinet looking decent.

The other day I started some laundry. And kept going all day. So now there is only a few loads left where there used to be a huge pile. I'm sure that when Boychild "cleans" his room, there'll be more down there but for now the laundry room is looking decent.

And then today I cleaned some junk off and out of my nightstand. I sorted through the laundry basket I keep my everyday stuff folded in and put the long sleeved shirts on one side, short sleeved shirts on the other, and jeans on top. I even tossed some of the jeans. The ones that were pretty worn out. Then I went through a few of my dresser drawers and tossed out some ratty old nightgowns and pajamas that were probably at least 10 years old. And organized the two drawers so that I can get to the warmer stuff when it's cold, the comfy regular stuff, and the... <.< ... let's just say, the stuff I don't wear very often. AND the bedroom got vacuumed.

OH! And I've been able to keep the piles of junk from reappearing on the kitchen table since New Year's!

Now I'm taking a break, drinking some tea and listening to one of Kevin Smith's Smodcasts.

I seriously need to have a garage sale this spring. There's so much stuff out in the garage in the "get rid of" area, it's ridiculous. And frankly, I'm feeling that in this economy, I'd rather get a few bucks to stash away off of it than to give it away to Goodwill.

On WoW, I ran the Vault of Archavon for the first time. The 10 man. Spent the last 1/5 of the fight watching it, dead. Then yesterday a 25 man pug was forming and I figured sure, what the heck. The first go at him wiped. Second go was much better. Although I spent the last 1/5 of the fight watching it, dead. I seriously see a pattern here. But now I have those two achievements!

I have three more dungeons in Northrend I have to hit this week for the event achevement. One of them is Gun'drak, the one you have to run on Heroic. I'll have to hit up some guildies this weekend and see if anyone wants to run it.

Oh well. I guess that's it for now. The mailman just went by and hopefully he left something good.

I should probably set up a Twitter dump to here because when it comes to sitting and posting here, it seems like more of the same stuff I've posted days/weeks/months/years before. And I'm a total Twitter-whore on my iPhone.

yeah

So my Knitpicks order came in today. I got the Boho Baby Knits book because I'd seen it at Borders and liked quite a few of the patterns in it. And I got the Knitting Socks with Handpaint Yarns book 'cause quite a lot of my sock yarn stash happens to be space dyed. Got that book sight unseen since there wasn't a good preview of it online. SO glad I got it. Many of the patterns are the shorter length socks that I really like. And are interesting stitch patterns/styles. They will go perfectly with the two skeins of Imagination yarn in the Looking Glass colorway that I got.

I also got three skeins of the special purchase baby alpaca/silk laceweight yarn. This is a bit of me being a lemming after hearing about lovely shawls in laceweight yarns. It is partly that the colorway was my FAVORITE shade of green!!! And the price was right. It was around $15 for three skeins. 1320 yards all together. Hopefully that is enough to make some nice lacy shawl some day when it has aged properly.

I finished Boychild's hobo mitts, which he wears to school along with the hat/scarf. I knit up an epic baby hat for one of my guildies on WoW. Now I've started the One Row Scarf pattern by the Yarn Harlot. I don't know if I'm gonna plow straight through 'til it's done or just use it as an interim project until something better comes along.

OH well. Nothing much else to post right now. Hopefully something interesting will pop up and it won't be so long between bloggings.

Subject:Bad service
Security:Public

I could technically tell this tale in the bad_service community, but am putting it here to avoid wank. Especially of the "that wasn't bad enough service" variety that has been there lately. Plus, I don't need their validation to know it was bad service.

Yesterday I wrote out the bills and decided that I wanted them mailed that day instead of waiting until today when I pass the PO on the way to the gym. Figured the doggers could use an outing too. So we get in the car in the freezing cold and head out. Drop the mail off and head to Petco, where I occasionally take the dog for a bit of adventure and socialization.

Yuki and I walk around the store a bit. I pick up a few rawhide bones and then we walk over to the clearance Christmas stuff. I saw one of those polar fleece balls marked down to 70 cents and picked one up. Then I saw a reusable plastic doggie treat jar full of treat balls. It had trees on it and I thought it was generic enough to have out all the time. There wasn't a sticker on the shelf, but I figured it couldn't cost more than a couple bucks so I decided to get it too.

When I was getting checked out it turned out there wasn't a sticker on the treat container also. The other one on the shelf apparently didn't have a sticker either. The cashier tries to look it up on the register but can't find it. He asks the other cashier for help but she couldn't find it either. After a bit, what I assume was a manager comes by and they ask her to find the price. She goes in the office. I wait. Cashier apologizes. I say it's okay. Doggers waits. Cashier gives dogger a treat... and apologize again. I say it's okay. Stuff happens. We wait more.

Eventually the manager comes out with the code and price saying it was the same as the gingerbread ones on the register's product listing. I was right about how it was probably around $2. My transaction is finished and once again the cashier apologizes profusely. I take my bag and dog, get in the car and go home.

After I get in my driveway and am gathering up my purse, the dog, and the bag, I realize the bag is rather light. I look around on the floor to see if the treat container had come out of the bag. No jar. Check under seat. No jar. Look in back seat. Negatory yet again. Then I whip out my phone and call the number on the reciept. I ask if my jar was still there. The person on the phone asks if it is a Christmas one and then when I confirm that it is tells me that yes, it is there. LOVELY! (/sarcasm) So I tell them that I am going to put the dog in the house and will be back for it.

Petco is only a little over a mile from my house, but it was freezing cold out and I would rather have been home. I dash in and get the jar. Once again, cashier apologizes profusely. I say it's okay. Get in my car and go back home. It was only when I got back home that I realized I was kind of pissed and that it was NOT okay. I mean, having trouble finding a price happens. But NOT PUTTING MY ITEM BACK IN THE BAG? After me having waited ten minutes or more? Pure carelessness.

(This is where I'd get wank in b_s for not having checked the bag before I left.)

Today is better. Worked on the epic baby hat some. Just had a lunch of Asian chicken salad made from greens I got at the store this morning, some frozen chicken strips and canned mandarin oranges that were out in the garage. Frankie and Annette movie is on. Dog's sitting next to me on the couch. The only thing that could make it better is if my tea cup was full.

... I hung one more year on the line...

(thank you, Paul Simon)

Yeah. I've been hiding. And yesterday really was my birthday. The first day of the last year of my 40's. *sigh*

Mory ordered me two skeins of the yarn my hat is made out of so I can knit a matching scarf. And Zen took me shopping Friday for the one thing I really wanted. A chair. We went to NFM and looked in the chair section. It was like Cinderella and her slipper except it was my butt and the right chair. I sat in a bunch and eventually found the right one. It's a Lane rocking recliner in a nice shade of blue.

Nothing new here. It's frigid cold. I'm not ready for Christmas even though I grumbled when people started advertising too early. My tree is minimalist this year, with lights and no ornaments except for a little cat finger puppet at the top.

Boursin, my pally, hit level 77 and is happily flying around Northrend. Boychild took her around the zones I hadn't fully mapped out and got me the World Explorer achievement, complete with title and tabard. Zen is nearing 55 on his Shadow Priest and the boy just started a Shaman on my account so he has something to play when his dad is using the other one.

Am currently knitting on the boy's hobo mitts. Got the fingers done and one hand partially worked. The striping is looking nice. Will post pic when done.

Guess I'll end this here since I'm writing it on my phone. Hopefully there aren't any creative word replacements courtesy of Apple, or my inabilit to see more than a portion of my text.

To all my friends who are having a rough time, my thoughts are with you. Same to those of you who aren't.

Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah.

Your result for What's your key signature?...

C Major

No sharps, no flats, no problems!

Congratulations, you’re C Major, the choice of lazy piano students the world over. While not much of a guitar key (playing F chords is a bitch for beginners) it both sounds nice and is easy to play on pretty much every other instrument, easily tuned to any occasion. While some songs in major keys can still retain a fairly melancholy sound to them throughout the overall vibe, those songs are rarely in C. C is reserved for happy sunshiny days in the summer time, where everyone feels good and doesn’t have to hit any sharps or flats.

You are a fairly happy and easy going person yourself if you got this result, perhaps even annoyingly so. Lots of musicians actually loathe C Major, it’s so overused. Don’t give up hope on the power of happiness, though! If you do, you might have to switch your result to D Minor.

SONG EXAMPLE: Nothing From Nothing by Billy Preston

INTERESTING TIDBITS:

* When people think peace and happy lazy days, they may think of the ukulele. Well the Uke just happens to be tuned to a C6 chord.

* Some casinos tune their slot machines to make noises in the key of C so they don’t sound sinister. It’s pretty effective obviously, since people still piddle their cash away.

Yep. Sounds right.

01. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times: The Fifth Element.

02. Name a movie that you've seen multiple times in a theatre: The latest Batman movie. Saw it twice in IMAX.

03. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie: Jason Statham. He's hot. XD

04. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie: I have to concur with Gneech that Tom Cruise now turns me off to a film.

05. Name a movie that you can quote from: The Fifth Element comes to mind, but I'm sure there are lots of others. "She KNOWS it's a MultiPass!"

06. Name a movie musical that you know all the lyrics to all the songs: Bye Bye Birdie... mostly because it was the first musical I was ever in, back in High School.

07. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with: ANY movie that's got a song I know, and I have the whim to sing along. But not in a theater. Only at home!

08. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see: I think 'Men with Brooms' is an excellent comedy. And how many times do you see a movie based around Curling.

09. Name a movie that you own: You sure? I have over 300 dvds of movies. (and I'm not counting the anime dvds!) Randomly... "The Secret of Roan Inish".

10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops: Hmm. I think Masi Oka does a damn good job as Hiro on "Heroes" after having started as a computer geek at ILM. Too bad the series has seriously sucked this season.

11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? Oh yeah! And in California sometimes the drive in would get fogged out! Missed the end of 'Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother' due to fog. Saw 'Bambi' at the drive in. Saw a double feature of 'Frogs' and 'Blackula' at the drive in. Before they tore it down here, we took the kids to see "King Kong" just so they could have a drive in experience.

12. Ever made out in a movie? I plead the fifth.

13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven't gotten around to it: Quantam of Solace, Transporter 3

14. Ever walked out of a movie? The first Alien movie. I saw it in San Francisco in 70mm with Dolby sound. It creeped the hell outta me and I left after the chestburster and they ejected the body out into space. The only other movie I've walked out on was 'Hellraiser'. Ugh. I hadn't wanted to see it in the first place and was badgered into going. Thankfully there was a fabric store next to the theater that I could retreat to while Zen watched the rest of it.

15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theatre: The Lion King

16. Popcorn? Sometimes. Mostly it's just soda.

17. How often do you go to the movies? Every three or four weeks, or whenever there are good ones out.

18. What's the last movie you saw in the theater? Zack and Miri Make a Porno

19. What is your favorite/preferred genre of movie? Romantic comedy. Science fiction's a close second.

20. What was the first movie you remember seeing in the theater? I got taken to see 'The Aristocats' for my birthday when I was little.

Yep. I was one of those people out at midnight last Wednesday picking up their copy of Wrath of the Lich King. And I had the ad for a local store in my hot little hand so that the Wal-Mart right up the street from my house would match the $29.95 price in it.

As far as what I've done in the game since then... well, I took Boursin out and sniffed around the Keep in Northrend. Stepped outside it for a second, then went back to Kalimdor. I'm still working on that Loremaster of Kalimdor achievement, but those last 29 quests are going to be miserable to find. Maybe I'll try and get some people with baby DKs to run the BRS instances with me some time soon. Meanwhile, I'm heading to Outland to work my Loremaster of Outland achievement now since it is broken down by zones.

I made a Death Knight. Her name is Camembert. I have no idea how to run her and feel at this point like I'm just buttonmashing. But she's out of the DK starting area, which, IMHO was a hella fun set of quests. She's a blue troll and looks totally badass in her DK starting gear. I'm gonna hate to trade it out for better Outland stuff. But I picked Troll as the race due to its faster regen of health and the Berzerker racial.

Camembert and the Lich King )

As far as what's been happening around here. Pretty much the same-old. Heck, I didn't even leave the house this weekend! And both Boychild and I spaced off that he was supposed to go to the rehearsal for one of his Scout friend's Court of Honor yesterday afternoon. It wasn't until three hours after, when I was making dinner, that I remembered it.

Today after the gym, I went and picked up Zen's birthday present since his birthday is tomorrow. Then I got a chicken muffin and coffee from McD's on the way home. Too bad the coffee's gone because it happened to be rather good today. Now I need to do laundry and clean up around here. And cobble together a grocery list since I'm making lasagne, garlic bread, and pineapple upside down cake tomorrow for the birthday boy.

But first I'm going to see if any new podcasts got posted from my subscribed list on iTunes.

Since I've been talking about this thing for a long time, here it is. My soldering is awful, but liberal application of black patina masks it somewhat.

Now, it's time to start a fall or Christmas suncatcher. My eventual goal is a whole set of seasonal ones to change in and out of the downstairs window throughout the year.
